Skidmore-Tynan Summer Strength and Conditioning Plan

Hello Bobcats and Lady Cats and welcome back to our summer strength and conditioning program.  We are excited to have you back on campus.  Our workouts will resume on Monday, July 13th and will be held from Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to about 10:30 a.m. with football sports specific working at the practice field from 10:45 to 11:30.

Before you come back, we want to remind you about our safety protocols and procedures as well as introduce a few things that we will implement in order to keep us all as safe as possible by following the UIL guidelines to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Arrival:

  1. Once you have left your vehicle you are required to wear a mask any time you are not actively exercising.
  2.  Upon arrival and once you have been dropped off you will need to go to a pre-marked, socially-distanced spot at the parking lot outside the boy’s locker room.
  3. You should stay on the spot and maintain social distance until you have been pre-screened and ready for the workout.

Workout:

The workouts will consist of three to four groups of about 15 athletes per group (UIL allows 20) that will rotate to three different stations for the duration of the workouts.  The stations will include:

Weight room – We will do two core lifts daily with some auxiliary lifts.

Agility – This will be done outside and consist of various agility drills and plyometrics.

Conditioning – This will be done outside and consist of stretching and general conditioning.

The procedures for reporting for workouts will be as follows:

  • Athletes should provide their own water bottles and towels if desired as we will not provide a common drinking station to ensure that bottles are not shared.
  • Athletes will not be allowed into locker rooms, but can use the restroom if necessary.
  • We will have hand sanitizer and an outdoor hand washing station available.
  • Equipment will be sanitized and cleaned before rotating groups and beginning the next round of exercises.

Dismissal:

  1.  At the conclusion of the workout we ask that students be picked up or leave campus as quickly as possible to limit the amount of socializing that might be done.
  2.  Students who are waiting for rides will need to wear a mask.

Basketball and Volleyball will use the new gym beginning on June 13th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. for their respective sport specific workouts.  Sport Specific workouts will consist of drills and exercises.

Gym Guidelines:

  1.  Athletes will need to wear a mask when entering the gym until the supervising Coach informs them that the workout is starting.
  2.  As of July 13th, UIL will allow athletes to participate in scenarios of offense vs. defense like full court basketball and 7 on 7.

Once again, we are excited to get our athletes back on campus and be able to work with them.  Our coaches have put together a well thought out and safe plan so that we can maximize our workouts while maintaining appropriate safety protocols.

Student who feel sick should stay home until they feel better.  If a parent does not feel safe about returning their athlete to campus, please keep them home, but let a coach know so that we at least know where the student is.

Sincerely,

Stephen Silva
