Interim Superintendent of Schools
The Skidmore-Tynan Independent School District Board of Trustees, at its June 8, 2020, meeting unanimously voted to hire Mrs. Sherry Myers as the interim superintendent of schools. Myers is replacing outgoing Superintendent Dr. Dustin Barton who accepted a position as the assistant superintendent for finance and operations with the Caddo Mills Independent School District.
Mrs. Myers stated, “I am pleased to be selected for this temporary position as we work to make decisions regarding the 2020-21 school year. I am here to keep a great district great! I have met with district administrators and central office staff. The team environment is excellent and all are committed to the students we serve. My first full day was packed with meetings as I got to know the staff and then I walked all of the facilities to become better acquainted. It may be summer, but the central team is diligently working as they have now returned to the district after an extensive Covid-19 at-home work situation. My extensive educational career has afforded me knowledge in school funding, operations, and curriculum & instruction for all ages pre-kindergarten through high school, and this will hopefully provide a steady hand as the district moves forward. I think it is an advantage that I am familiar with the area having served as Assistant Superintendent with Beeville ISD and as Superintendent with Pettus ISD.”
Doug Arnold and Artie Armendariz have been hired by the district to search for the school district’s next full-time leader with anticipation that the position will be filled at the beginning of the new school year.
